Nobody - Book Review
The first ever book review on Nobody New. "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck."
I read the reviews, I saw numerous people post about this book in the infosec community, and I had to give it a go. I opted to get the two book collection and will most likely write a review of the second book when I am finished reading it.
The Author, Mark Manson writes fairly elegantly not so congruent with the shock value of his choice of titles.

The core essence is there and doesn't rely on foul language to get the point across. There were several reviews I read that suggested Manson was pointing out critical psychological theories and thought processes through the mouth of a sailor. I have to disagree. Yes, there are swear words, but none of them are (in my opinion) used solely as filler. They are justified in usage.
Throughout the course of the book, you will get breadcrumbs of Manson's life and how his mental function started to undergo change. Seemingly for the better as he paints himself as a not-so-well-kept person in his younger years. From a close friend's death to breakups and psycho female attractions, Manson has seen the gamut.

After I finished the book, I had a sense of critically thinking about aspects of my life. There are so many things we as humans tend to latch on to and label them as important. Through the microscope of this book, you can start to realize not everything needs to have a post-it note in your mind. Not in the terms of Tyler Durden, "let the chips fall where they may," but truly giving a F*uck about the things that matter. Be passionate about things in your life that make you happy. Who cares what others think? Nobody should harbor all that mental waste. But humans do, and almost to a science.
To be the best version of yourself, you need to let all the mental garbage fall by the wayside and focus on elements of your life that actually matter. My personal escape to focus on myself has been working out. I feel physically and mentally better, but everybody is different with a different set of goals, wants, and needs. Find your bliss without being distracted by the noise.
This was a great read and highly recommended. Even if you don't take away drastic life changes you want to make in your life, it is always compelling to read about other people's experiences and how they perceive things. I know for me personally, I have come to realize I need to "not sweat the small stuff." Unlike some of the reviews I have read prior to reading the book, this isn't a self-help guide to say "f*uck it" to everything. Which I believe to be a common misconception. The title of the book may be misleading, but shock sells.
